What is Holistic Theracoaching, and is it for you?
First, I would like to define theracoaching as a combination of therapy and coaching with the intention of optimally supporting you in moving forward and achieving your healing transformation goals. Hence, Holistic Theracoaching is an integrative approach grounded in the premise that the whole person is made up of interdependent mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional parts. Thus, if one part isn’t working properly, all the other parts are affected.
For instance, I possess the clinical skills and tools to assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric syndromes and populations; however, I go beyond the traditional wisdom of appraisal in the clinical environment, as I am very aware of the damage mental health stigma can have on an individual. The goal is to help you make sense of the mental health diagnosis you might have been given and also make sense of your experiences and symptoms, some which may be troubling or confusing. Learning about mental health can help you see that you are not your diagnosis, and that you are not alone.
On a similar note that stems from a holistic approach, I may first consider discussing with my clients, what steps they have taken or could take before recommending a medication evaluation; unless, of course, the situation appears to require an assessment by a psychiatrist as soon as possible. If it’s appropriate, I may introduce the use of breath, relaxation and mindfulness exercises, creative expression, or reframing negative self-talk as viable alternatives of conservative treatment.
When it comes to spirituality, it is different from religion, though it’s often confused with the same. There is no one definition for spirituality as it may differ from one person to another. Moreover, my clients choose how their spiritual beliefs support their individual healing process, as I am aware that spirituality may help them find meaning and purpose in their lives, bring hope and healing in times of suffering and loss, and encourage them to seek a better relationship with themselves and others. Moreover, as the foundation of my client's healing process, their spiritual beliefs and practices are integrated into their holistic theracoaching sessions.
I strongly adhere to the belief that there is basic goodness in everyone, that we are all doing the best we can, and that no one is broken, even though it may feel like it at times. I often encourage my clients to consider that, when they are willing to do the healing work it takes to get better, then their wounds can ultimately be experienced as precious scars as in Kintsugi or kintsukuroi: the Japanese art of filling in the cracks of broken pottery with gold.

Theracoaching: the Best of Both Worlds
Holistic Theracoaching Offers Guidance, Self-Actualization, and Healing Transformation
Theracoaching is a combination of therapy and coaching to best support you in moving forward in achieving your healing transformation goals. As a holistic theracoach, I may interchangeably perform the roles of guide, counselor, coach, facilitator, or healer for anyone who is striving to develop, heal, transform their lives, and embody their distinctive gifts to the world.
At the beginning, in order to develop rapport, trust, and a strong foundation, many of my theracoaching clients start meeting with me on a weekly basis for 60-minute sessions. While some continue to engage in 1 hour weekly meetings for the duration of our theracoaching relationship, others at some point, move to every other week; biweekly meetings usually last 75 minutes because we are meeting less frequently and a little extra time is needed to catch up. Eventually, some transition to once a month or meet on an as-needed basis, depending on what is going on in their lives; these meetings are 90 minutes long.
In addition, some of my clients are already seeing a therapist or a coach/mentor, though seek me out to provide a specific distinctly specialized service to further advance and complement their healing process. If you would like this level of support, you will be required to sign a release of information for both the other professional and myself.
When it comes to finances, sometimes it may seem difficult to imagine spending a certain amount of money on theracoaching for what may seem an indeterminate amount of time.
However, theracoaching doesn’t have to be a lifetime endeavor, especially when you consistently aim to recognize and reclaim your unique and authentic superpowers; you do your part and I do mine. Thus, together we can find meeting frequency options that work best for you based on the healing experience you are striving for.
I will say though, that we all have priorities when it comes to how and on what we are willing to spend money, and for some, holistic theracoaching is not their priority. However, if at this time in your life, theracoaching is where it’s at for you, then I invite you to consider making it work for you; whether it’s with me or someone else. I imagine that if you are reading this, it is because deep inside, you know you would benefit from professional support right about now.

You get out what you put in. From the beginning, there is a great deal of ongoing preparation, on my part, of resources that will invite you to dive deeply into deepening practices and exercises that are meant to be significantly supportive, healing, and therapeutic during and in-between sessions.
To support and integrate your healing process, I encourage regular e-mail / online check-ins between sessions for both weekly and biweekly theracoaching meetings.
Lastly and very importantly, in either educational or experiential formats, I will share with you my own particular contribution to the holistic field that has taken me many, many hours of training and working on my craft; consequently, it is my heartfelt calling to fully support you in finding your own unique voice, your soul medicine, and your sacred purpose at this time in your life.
I find that for transformative work to be life-changing, there needs to be a level of commitment that addresses specific personal goals. Though a great deal can be gained from a single holistic theracoaching or healing session, meeting once a week until we have developed rapport, which may take months, is what tends to occur in most cases. Then, after we both feel that we have developed a strong foundation, we may then move to meeting on a biweekly basis with clear intentionality and purpose, which may significantly increase your transformative results. Theracoaching is not forever; everything you need is inside you, and I will support you in accessing what will most benefit you. Unlike most coaches who may not also be counselors, I will not ask you to commit to packages of a certain amount of sessions; I will, however, ask you to commit to your healing process and show up fully with the desire and willingness to put your back into it. Know that once we make the decision to work together, I will do my very best to empower you. I am genuinely committed to your healing process.
