How moving consciously through life CAN help you
Have you tried everything you can think of to find emotional relief, and nothing seems to be working? Then, I invite you to consider the possibility of discovering the answer to what has been ailing you through connecting to your body-soul via conscious movement theracoaching!
Take a chance, go deeper, find the root cause of your pain, and get some relief once and for all. Because when you connect to your body, you connect to your soul. The body in motion as conscious movement is your vehicle for deep exploration, healing, and connection to a higher intelligence that resides in you and in everything.
As human beings, we were designed to be fully present and embodied while we live our lives. As we move, whether in dance, sports, play, work or simply in being with others, there is usually a desire to want to connect. Unfortunately, connecting in healthier ways may be difficult when we hold so much emotional baggage and stress in our bodies.
The ability to create more authentic relationships is a skill which begins at home, within our own bodies. Conscious Movement theracoaching can play an essential role in helping you re-claim your authentic connection to yourself and others by:

The ability to create more authentic relationships is a skill which begins at home, within our own bodies. Conscious Movement theracoaching can play an essential role in helping you re-claim your authentic connection to yourself and others by:
- Allowing your body to have a natural reaction, a reflex, a contraction, and/or a release or an energetic discharge to an uncomfortable experience or emotion without judgment in a safe container as a catalyst to cultivate love and acceptance of the self.
- Learning how to develop and trust your ability to be more present and compassionate with yourself and others.
- Gaining understanding of how to translate the nonverbal movements into healing insights.
- Being able to respond to difficulties from a more grounded, expansive, and authentic place.
Conscious Movement Theracoaching
The Theracoaching that I offer, brings together the best of holistic therapy and psychospiritual coaching; it is basically embodied soul-based therapeutic coaching that addresses whole person healing.
As a trained body and dance therapist, I know how to hold space and support my clients when they are experiencing very difficult emotions, and bring a specialized set of holistic approaches into the coaching services I offer. At the same time, I have created this embodied psychospiritual coaching space in order to be able to invite aspects of your soul work that may be outside the counseling scope of practice.
In case you were curious about what body psychotherapy is: it is a well-established, specialized, and holistic branch of somatic counseling psychology which is composed of a myriad of holistic body-centered therapies.
Moreover, Conscious Movement is a holistic approach to healing that addresses your emotional, social, physical, spiritual, and cognitive integration.
Conscious Movement Theracoaching brings body movement into therapeutic healing work as an innovative addition and a versatile alternative to verbal processing. By inviting spontaneous and organic movement, I help my clients explore ongoing themes in their lives through directing attention to sensation and verbal understanding; thus, on their time, arriving at the integration of body, mind, and soul.
This space is for everyone! Though this space may feel very familiar to creative types like musicians, dancers, and “weird everyday people” like me (yes, I do my part to keep Austin weird), this safe container is also for anyone who is curious and who dares to walk the road less traveled towards exciting and life-transforming possibilities of a freer, stronger, and happier you. If you feel moved, then I invite YOU to join me in this adventure!

My journey with Dance/Movement Training and other Body-Based Experiences
While studying dance/movement therapy, I was exposed to the Gestalt-based Moving Cycle, Authentic Movement, Contact Improvisation, 5Rhythms, The Kestenberg Movement Profile, Laban’s Effort-Shape Theory, Body-Mind Centering, Bartenieff’s Fundamentals and Space Harmony, La Barre’s Studies of Nonverbal Behavior, and sensorimotor tracking, all with a mindfulness practice as the foundation of the work.
Also in the past, practicing as a former licensed massage therapist, becoming a certified kundalini yoga teacher, and learning various energy medicine modalities have given me the opportunity to get better acquainted with the human body from various anatomical, emotional, and energetic angles.
Ultimately, I have learned to recognize and address how feelings and life experiences live inside the body. Moreover, unprocessed difficult emotions, when chronically repressed, end up getting trapped in our human anatomy, often leading to energy loss, emotional and physical imbalance, and eventually dis-ease.
Thus, I am thankful and delighted for the opportunity to have completed the Embodied Leadership and Conscious Dance Movement Teacher Training Programs through Soul Motion, as this fun and experiential practice expands the conscious movement healing work I offer to you, both individually and in group settings.
Conscious dance movement provides a therapeutic way for the body to communicate conscious and unconscious feelings that may shed some light into how to liberate and shift our lives in a positive way. Thus, the body can be a significant key to unlocking profound levels of healing.
According to Vincent Martínez-Grieco formerly known as Vinn Arjuna Martí, the creator of Soul Motion and one of my mentors, it is a practice of paying attention and waking up, together, to the physical reality of a body in motion, and the spiritual reality of the Presence that moves us.

What To Expect During a Conscious Movement Session
Conscious movement theracoaching sessions are often focused on spontaneous movement behavior as it comes forward through the creative process. Know that including conscious dance movement in your session is up to you, and is always an option!
Generally, a conscious movement session may include improving self-esteem and body image; developing effective communication skills; learning to regulate emotions; exploring how to set healthy boundaries that work for you, working with your shadow self, and expanding movement vocabulary in order to gain insight and create new ways of engaging in problem-solving.
Some interventions may incorporate:
In this experiential and non-traditional practice, you are encouraged to consider that there is no right or wrong way to explore movement, as it can happen on the inside and on the outside, and it can be small and / or it can be big. You can be certain though, that consciously moving with what is alive in you, figuratively and literally speaking, one moment at a time, is a powerful promoter for change and a golden opportunity you give yourself to move and heal through any blocks you may be facing at this time.

Some interventions may incorporate:
- Mirroring. Matching and echoing your movements to show empathy and validate what you may be feeling. Also, very importantly, mirroring informs my client that I see her/him/them!
- Grounding Experiences.
- Inviting you to consciously sense and feel movements from the inside and the outside; to explore connection to Self and others.
- Assisting you with embodying how you want to show up in the world.
- Using a “movement metaphor” or prop to help you physically and expressively demonstrate support around a challenge or an achievement. For example: I may give you a high five to celebrate a personal accomplishment.
